Why will my 1997 Hyundai only start after turning over repeatedly?

My 1997 Hyundai is having problems starting. Regardless of weather, engine temperature, or moisture, it will only start after repeatedly turning over. It sounds like to me that it is a starter/solenoid problem but I defer to those with greater knowledge and experience than myself. Thanks in advance, brothers and sisters.|||You HAVE BAD SPARK PLUG WIRES or WIRE it sounds like it is very hard to start. change the plugs

2 it could be the fuel pressure regulator is stuck or not cycling the fuel in the right amount into the fuel rail.

3 have the fuel pump and filter check/ changed if needed especially the filter.

4 if none of the above has been the cause have the shop check the %26gt;TPS sensor %26lt;"Throttle Position Sensor" the shop will hook a meter to it and make sure its getting the right amount of voltage/ampers if the switch is going out it should be replaced this sensor tells the computer how much the accelerator is depressed therfore speedeing up the engine.

5 something easy for the shop to replace is the ignition module or coil this is the same thing depending on the car. some cars like a 1993 HONDA ACCORD has 2 modules that control the spark to the spark plugs.

I hope this helps you.|||Hyundais are known for using up spark plug wires , especially if you drive hard . Replace with a High Quality wire set ( Every 35,000 miles at least ).

Also Clean the terminals on your battery connections and make sure those wires are in good condition .|||it's not a starter solenoid problem, other wise it would turn over, it sounds like a ignition or fuel problem. Try the easy stuff first, change the fuel filter to make sure your getting gas. check your plugs and wires, make sure getting spark to your coil and see if your coil is working.|||it could be 1 of 3 things or all 3 starter/battery/altinater...hope this helps.|||question#1 is the check engine light on when it does run?

if yes then have that checked could be a clue to whats wrong with your car.if no then question #2 does the car run rough when it does run if yes replace plugs and wires and check coil operation, a good test would be to mist water over the coils,if no then like the other person said have the fuel pressure checked it could be lack of fuel, initial start of fuel pump might not be pumping as quick as it should be if an issue is occuring in the fuel pressure try replacing the fuel filter, if your problem hasn't been fixed after these questions have been awnsered true, and possible problems checked out ok then I would recommend having a pro look at it you might have an electrical problem or even internal engine problems
