Can someone attach a trailer hitch to a Hyundai elantra and pull a airstream behind the car or not?

I have a Hyundai elantra and am thinking about pulling an airstream behind it.Is this possible or will the laws of physics be against me?|||It may pull it, but it will not pull it far.

The Elantra has a larger towing capacity than most cars (3086 lbs if you have trailer brakes) and most Airstream Trailers weigh much more than that.

You will be putting extreme stress on your vehicle, and will cause it to fail prematurely.|||Try to find a trailer hitch for the car that will handle that big of a trailer.... you can't...why, you don't pull them with a front wheel drive car. I found that out with a much larger front wheel drive car than you are talking about.|||not enough car too much trailer|||r u kidding me?

Where are the spark plugs of a 2000 Hyundai elantra located?

The engine light of my hyundai Elantra 2000 came on. It says there is a miss fire in cylinder 3. I just replaced the crankshaft position sensor and it was running fine for about a week. Someone said I should replace my spark plugs. I am not exactly sure where they are located on the Elantra.|||I have an 05 Elantra. On my car their is a plastic cover over the top of the engine , held on by 4 bolts . Remove these bolts and the cover lifts right off . Directly underneath right on top the engine you will see 4 plug wires coming in . Lift by the boots of these wires to remove the plug wire from the plug. The plugs will be recessed down in their about 5 inches , you will need a sparg plug socket and an extension to reach down in there. Install the new plugs and once they are snug give them another half turn. I suggest pulling one plug at a time and replacing with the new so as not to cross the plug wires . It really is an easy job that anyone can do. The new platinum plugs will run about $3 each X 4 + $12 . You will save around $40 or more on labor . Just did mine this week , It took me all of about 20 minutes.|||If you can't find the spark plugs... I would suggest you take the car someplace and have it repaired.|||Follow the distributor wires|||refer internet

How much will it cost me to replace the front axle in a 1999 Hyundai Elantra?

The CV joints in my Hyundai are going bad. Several people have told me that it's better to replace the whole front axle.

I'm just looking for a ballpark figure on how much this repair should cost, including parts and labor.|||You can get a Constant Velocity Joint (CV) for around $100 new or $50 for a remanufactured one from a parts store like Napa, etc.

I would say the whole bill would be in the ballpark of around $300-$400 including labor if everything went ok.

How good are Hyundai's and How long do they last?

I am looking into possibly buying a 2005 Hyundai Elantra, any suggestions? Whats your experience with hyundai? I have never owned a Hyundai before.|||I have 2 of them... a 2003 and a 2007, both bought new. By the performance of the 2003 I bought the 2007 and have found both very good cars. If to do over I would still buy the cars and when looking for another new car, 99% chance it will be another Hyundai. I do not and will not baby my cars so I drive them hard and the Hyundai's have taken my abuse. I pay cash for my cars so I can afford what I want and If someone doesn't believe that, put your money where your mouth is and I'll show you the titles without a lean holder.|||the Elantra has been a good, reliable car. a 2005 is 5 years old, however. so mileage and maintenance will play a part. any car which has been neglected or abused won't "last" as long

the Elantra isn't known for giving unforeseen problems, but depending on age and mileage certain things need to be done. has the oil been changed regularly? coolant replaced? brakes serviced, power steering fluid changed, and the auto trans serviced? at 60,000m the timing belt is also scheduled for replacement. that is very important and is expensive at a dealer, a lot less from an independent shop.

so how "long do they last?" well, here are a couple of links for your research

that is 226 owner reviews and impressions of the '05 Elantra. if its been taken care of and you like the way the car drives and stuff, it should treat you as well as any car and go a good number of miles|||I have a 2004 Elantra and just took it in for my 60,000 mile maintenance (I don't put a lot of miles on my car), but so far it's been a really good car for me. No major problems. While I was at the dealership the other day a lady who brought in her Tuscon was telling me about her sister who had bought an Elantra about 10 years ago and put over 200,000 miles on it! She had since sold the car, but it's running strong for the other owners as well.|||Theyre not a top car company so they have to make long lasting cars to sell them. Not like Ford with the Mustang. Its flashy so you pay more for that. But when I think "new car" Hyundai isnt my first choice.|||They last longer than the guy making steak upstairs

What size of speakers fit in a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe?

I wanted to know what size of speakers to buy for my 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS V6. Please specify sizes for the front and for the back. Thank you!|||Well, you've got different sizes in the front and back and maybe even 3-4 sizes total if you have a premium soundsystem from the factory. For reference purposes go to http://www.crutchfield.com and you can find out what speakers etc you can use and compare models.

How much does it cost to paint a Hyundai Elantra?

I live in Toms River, New Jersey and I recently bought a gold 2002 Hyundai Elantra. It has black tinted windows in the back and i would like to get the car painted black. Its my first car and i got it really cheap from a family friend for $2700 so I'm not looking to spend a lot on painting it,but I don't want it to be some really crappy job either. How much would it be to get a cheap decent paint job and if anyone knows where I could get one done would be a great help too !

Thanks :)|||Depends on where you have it done and how much rust/dents need to be repaired. Cost for a cheap job, about $300/$400.. for a good job about $4000/ $6000. A good job done right could would be higher.|||A scuff and shoot paint job with decent paint about $1500, that doesn't include fixing any scratches, dents, etc. For a nice properly done paint job with decent paint $2500.

Where can I go to have automatic folding side mirrors installed on a 2007 Hyundai Sonata in NJ?

Folding mirrors are not standard or optional on 2007 Hyundai Sonatas. Therefore, this would have to be a custom job.|||He's talking about electronically folding mirrors, that is not standard except on maybe the Genesis. Yes, most cars have mirrors you can manually fold, on my Azera it was an option. I don't know where in NJ you can get it done, call some performance or repair shops.|||What??? the Hyundai EXCEL had folding mirrors, but there was a thing you wedged into them after you folded them to keep them there.

you SHOULD have folding mirrors, pull toward you hard, it will give, and flex back.|||?????????????? my 2003 has folding mirrors???????????|||Are you sure yours aren't the folding type? I have a 2007 Hyundai Accent, they were on it when I bought it and the Accent is a cheaper model than the Sonata

Would a battery from a 1995 Saturn work in a 2002 Hyundai Accent GL?

I bought a battery for my old 1995 Saturn but then the engine quit in it so I kept the battery. Now I bought a 2002 Hyundai Accent GL but it needs a new battery. Would the battery from the Saturn work in the Hyundai?|||A battery is a battery, except for 2 things. The amp rating or cranking power, and the type of terminals. Side mount threaded or top mount posts. Yes it will work. The issue is in how well it works, which is determined by the amperage. Compare one with the other. The Saturn one should have the same or higher amp rating. A lower rating will work but wear out faster, and may cause other undesired electrical problems.|||Yes. If they utilize the same type of connectors. Side post / Top post.

Where can I find programming for a Hyundai Tucson keyless entry?

I lost one of my key fobs for my 2006 Hyundai Tucson, and can purchase a new one on eBay, but have not been able to find anywhere to purchase or obtain for free the programming for it. I have seen on other websites that the programming for other cars is available. Does anyone know where a site is that can direct me to obtaining this?|||with the hyundias or at least all the new modles it will have to bo done at the dealership. they have to use the scantool to program the remotes. this is the only way to do it now.

My 2005 Hyundai Elantra makes a squeaky sound when I turn the wheel to the max, whats the problem?

(The car is a stick-shift) My 2005 Hyundai Elantra makes a squeaky sound when I turn the wheel to the max, whats the problem?|||The power steering system is at its maximum limit and therefore it is trying to do more than it was intended to do. Dont turn the wheel to the limit, kinda useless as the wheels hit a steering stop built into the system.|||Sounds like you might be complaining about a belt squeal. The belt tension might be a little lose. a way to check it is to spray a little WD 40 onto the inside of the belt and then try turning the wheel to one side and see if the noise goes away|||Sounds like you need to check your power steering belt

could be loose or just old

What should I have done to my Hyundai Accent during a 60,000 mile service?

I have a 2002 Hyundai Accent L, drives great. Different garages offer different services as part of their 60,000 mile maintenance package. What is most important and what should I make sure gets done?|||New Engine. Gearbox and all main components|||Yes check your owner's manual to be sure. However a timing belt is often overlooked it is time.|||Timing belt.

All Hyundai's recommend getting the timing belt changed at 60,000 miles. If you wait longer, you could break your engine.

They will probably check your brakes, tires, fluids, and battery power.|||1) I would go ahead and change your timing belt. Hyundai still uses a disgusting interferance engine. (Flat or domed pistons) So if your belt breaks about 2000RPM you will trash your valves and at 4000rpm do so much damage to your heads, pistons that its not worth the risk.

2) Tranny flush at 75k...its prolly to late, pull out the dip stick and smell it, if its burnt smelling just leave it alone, changing/flushing will do more harm then good.

3) Ignition systems: 60-75k is a good time to change your ingition system. its cheap and easy.|||That info can be had from the dealer or in the manual

My 2004 Hyundai Tiburon's tailgate release button is not working how do I fix it?

It is a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 and whenever I try to use the trunk release it does not work. I have looked at the fuse and it seems visibally fine.|||Despite what Smokeybacon/Edgar/HonestJohnny/JPSenior said, the next thing to check is the switch itself. If the fuse is fine, then its likely the switch/release button is not working. You can order a new part from your dealers parts department.|||there could be a pinched or messed up wire somewhere in the hatch circuit, or the popper could have failed also. see if you can get a wire diagram and start checking power and ground wires.

Would a Hyundai Tiburon change my insurance?

I currently drive a 6 cylinder, four-door sedan and was planning on selling it for a 2008 Hyundai Tiburon. I was wondering if the drastic change in car would increase the price I pay for insurance. I am still classed as a "newly licensed driver".|||I have a Tiburon and insurance companies do not consider it a sports car for insurance... so you will not find any drastic change in your insurance cost. I would guess it will still be the same or maybe just a little higher, but not by much.|||I used to drive a 3.0ltr toyota pickup and now im in a 2.0ltr tibby; it reduced my quote by 拢700 pounds! (i was a new driver like yourself) the 2 litre uses an un tuned version on the mitsubishi evos 2.0 ltr but as its classified as a hatchback and not a coupe (ironically) it hugely reduces you quote. you will actually find that switching will save you money!

the cars a gem, the engine is bullet proof and the boot space is insane as you can fold the rear seats flat. great car and very good value.|||Very easy just call whoever it is you have insurance with and they can tell you what the difference is regarding the price if any at all. Mostly your premiums are reflected by your age and driving record, the car may not make that big of a difference.|||You can compare how the insurance quotes would change, for example here - autoinsurance.bebto.com

What type of metal is a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 Flywheel made out of?

What type of metal is a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 Flywheel made out of? Cast Iron? Billeted Steel?

My uncle a mechanic also says that the flywheel usually never needs to be replaced when replacing a clutch if it is made out of cast iron because it is so hard to thin down.|||Cast Iron.|||Most flywheels are made of cast iron or steel. I'd ask a dealer repair shop which one the Tiburon uses.

How to save radio stations in a Hyundai Santa Fe?

I have a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe and I don't know how to save my favorite radio stations. I think the manual said to hold down the "band" button but I don't see that button. Does anyone know?

Thank you!|||Tune in the station you want to save and press the any of the channel select buttons, hold it for a few seconds and it will lock on. That button should always tune to that station after that until you do the save procedure again.|||go to channel and go in option list to favourite .It's simple dude.

What oil do you recommend for a Hyundai Sonata ?

Just got an '07 Sonata today, and want to take as good care of it as possible to make it last the longest. As for future oil changes, what brand of oil should I go with? Hyundai does recommend Quaker State, but I heard that Pennzoil is also very good.|||If your are still under your factory warranty, you must change your oil every 3000 miles, or you will void your warranty. With Hyundai's extended powertrain warranty, give them no excuse to not honor any issues that may arise with your engine. As far as what oil to use, Quaker State would be fine. Your oil changes can be done anywhere, as long as you keep a receipt for your service records. Enjoy your Sonata!

Ricart Auto|||penzoil is good but i would go with moible clean 5000, i swear this stuff is great you can go 5000 miles between changes and its still preety cheap i paid 1195 for 5 quarts. when i changed the oil after 5000 miles it still was pretty clean as well not like alot of oils that if you go 5k on it will be blacker than the crude that it comes from. also use a quality filter as well like a bosch or k%26amp;n oil filter. bosch filter is like 5 buck and the k%26amp;n oil filter is like 12 bucks. |||the best luck i've had with conventional oils is Castrol GTX. i get the best gas mileage out of it.

after that the mobile 5000 has been the best i've used.

if you are brilliant, and go to synthetic oils (longer life, better fuel economy), i've had the best luck with Castrol Syntec, followed by Quaker State Q power and Pennsoil platinum. i've had weird results from Amsoil and Royal Purple (they give great result at first that quickly drops off), little change with Mobile 1 (very little improvement in fuel economy) and negative results with Valvoline (fuel economy actually dropped vs conventional oil)

How to save radio stations in a Hyundai Santa Fe?

I have a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe and I don't know how to save my favorite radio stations? Does anyone know?

Thanks you?|||Without sounding nasty, have you considered reading the cars owners manual?

That's what it's there for.

If you don't have it then usually when you tune into a radio station and press and hold a preset button until it beeps or the sound returns will preset a station.

How much money would it cost me to drive 500 miles in a Hyundai Sonata 2011?

I'm supposed to go somewhere thats about 500 miles away. I will be driving a hyundai sonata 2011 and most of the driving will be on the highway which is like 65 mph.|||Approx $80|||Work it out yourself. Look at the car's fuel consumption rates so find the average mpg which you think this car will do on the trip. Then with that number you can divide 500 by that average number of mpg you will get out the thing and then you can work out how many litres you need. Then multiply that many litres by the average price of petrol. I think this is right anyway.|||Assuming there will be Toll to pay:

$1-$25 toll depending on highways and bridges you might take.

As for gas, you will only need to fill up the tank once. Depending on the gas prices in your area and how much gas you already have in your car when you start your trip, it can be anywhere from $40 to $90.|||Considering the Sonata gets 35mpg on the highway, you can expect to use at least 14.3 gallons of fuel.

I don't know what fuel prices are where you're at, but here it's about $3.30 per gallon, which means you'd pay at least $47 in fuel.|||1 tank of gas will get you there with some to spare. On a recent long trip, over 4000 miles, I averaged 37 mpg running mostly about 80 mph on interstates with a 2011 Sonata carrying a lot of weight.

Does a clogged fuel filter prevent a Hyundai from Starting?

I have a 2001 Hyundai Accent GL 5 speed manual trans. The car won't start. I can here the starter motor clicking, but the engine won't crank. I want to know if a clogged fuel filter can cause this problem. I'd rather change the fuel filter first (which has never been changed, ever) before I remove the hard to access starter motor. Tell me if this can cause the engine to not crank.

Also, if you have any diagrams or resources to change the fuel filter, i'd appreciate it.|||A clogged fuel filter could keep it from running but has nothing to do with the engine turning over. Check the battery first and make sure it is OK (make sure the post are clean also), if it is all right than check the starter.|||It could keep the engine from running ,but it wouldn't keep the engine from turning over , i would say that you have a weak battery ,loose battery cable or the starter is bad . If it's the starter you should be able to PUSH start the car by turning the key on with the transmission in third gear ,now hold the clutch in until the car is moving around 5 - 10 mph, then let off (up) of the clutch , when the engine starts push both clutch %26amp; brake in(down) to stop the car.|||its the starter... its happened to three of my old cars. if it was fuel it would turn over but never start. it you hear a clicking noise and nothing happens its the starter. sorry it wasnt something easier but dont waste time and money with a fuel filter. i have a 87 chevy with the original filter they dont get that clogged.|||your starter solenoid is probly shot!

Where is hyundai click car conditioner evaporator drain hose?

I want to know where the car airconditioner evaporator drainage hose is located in the hyundai click car. Is there a photo somewhere on the net.|||Run the engine for 15 min with A/C ON and see under the engine where the dripping water comes from. It is usually located against the fir-wall on the passenger side. Most of the times you will see the water drips falling down on exhaust system causing sizzling sound. Just follow the water puddle upwards from where is dripping on the ground.|||I bet if you look under the car you will find it.

How much will it cost to replace the front axle in a 1999 Hyundai Elantra?

The CV joints in my Hyundai are going bad and several people have told me that they prefer to just replace the whole front axle.

I'm just looking for a ballpark figure on how much a repair like this should cost including parts and labor.|||get another car, its not worth it|||the cv joints and axle is basically the same thing they dont replace the joints but the halfshaft/axle its about 70 for the axle thats average your car could be more or less about 150 for labor but that depends if you doing 1 side or both|||It should run you about $200 each axle. $90 for the axle, $100 for the labor.

Installing a cd player in a 2000 hyundai elantra?

I need to replace the cd player in my mom's 2000 Hyundai Elantra. Does anyone know how I'd go about removing the dash to get to the unit itself? What kind of oil does a 2000 hyundai tiburon take?

My boyfriend just bought 2000 hyundai tiburon and it doesn't have the owners manual so we we can't figure out what kind of oil it takes. If someone could let me know that would be great! :)|||Any 30 weight oil will be fine. Synthetic or conventional is up to you. I prefer 10W-30 for conventional, because it's harder to shear because of the better base stock. As far as synthetic, any synthetic will be fine. I like Castrol Syntec 0W-30. It's made in Germany, and is the only Syntec that is made in Germany. Very good oil.

Royal Purple is decent oil, but it sure as hell won't make it last longer than any other quality oil. Royal Purple is what is referred to as a 'boutique oil'. Not sold in real stores, and very expensive. You are better off going with Castrol, Pennzoil, Valvoline, etc. Same or better protection and a better price.|||if I were you I would look up ROYAL PURPLE oil and find the nearest store that sells it adn only put this in your car, it WILL make it last longer ..yes it WILL

Does Hyundai ever use lack of oil-change records as an excuse to weasel out of the 10-year warranty?

Assuming you take good care of your Hyundai and change its oil as often as you should, but don't have records to prove it, are they likely to use that against you, just so they can save money on repairs?|||If you don't change oil for 40K miles Hyundai doesn't need to weasel out. your engine will be hooped before you even get to dealer. best advise from a Service Manager's point of view is:

do due diligence when it comes at least to minimal maintenance (regularly oil changes-like every max 5000 miles/8.000 Km). Should you decide to do you maintenance yourself, keep the receipt for oil and filters. This will prove in front of manufacturer your investment in maintenance. If you don't do so and you go to dealer with a complaint regarding engine performance (related to engine friction components) Hyundai (not the dealer) might decline your claim. Its not all about weaseling out of warranty coverage.... its all about protecting you from loosing your investment sooner rather than a good investment. remember.... the car will last longer the better you maintain it.

in the end, you will be the major factor of decision of how long you will be able to drive the car for.

Best wishes and drive safe

****EDIT****

I did read the question and you said: assuming. The info I have gave you its just a scenario. its not what I think it is because I don't know that however, I assume that you or someone else you know) is in a similar situation where you've got a problem with your car and Hyundai does not want to offer you warranty unless you provide proof of maintenance, otherwise you wouldn't ask this!!! Am I wrong??? You probably HAVE taken care of your car... no doubts, you know best... but you don't have the proof (invoices or something similar) to prove this, correct? If there is a problem with you engine and is due to possible lack of maintenance any car manufacturer, if so suspected, would ask you for maintenance records to ensure the defect is not caused by lack of maintenance. Any service Manager or mechanic would recognize lack of maintenance. Hope this is not the case to your question. If you have a certain problem you would like to open for suggestion, just ask and I might be able to give you the best advise to my knowledge. 10 years as service manager with HYUNDAI gives me the advantage to know what is required and what not (by manufacturer)

****EDIT2****

OK. fair enough. You want to find out how good or bad Hyundai is when it comes to this situation. As a manufacturer, Hyundai had proved to be very reasonable - at least from what I have used to learn in my experience. The biggest challenge you might have its not Hyundai. Its the person you are talking too. Most of the times its better to try a second person or the service Manager if you have any problems. From my point of view, Hyundai is giving every dealer a good will budget to handle situations where the dealer can help a good customer or just to help a Hyundai owner in trouble. This "good will" budget is fairly consistent and I never had a problem with Hyundai questioning allocation. In the end... depends on the case and person you are dealing with. In difficult situations is best to deal directly with service Manager rather than service Advisor. I hope this gives you an Idea who Hyundai is and how do they take care of their customers. They will always take the extra step to exceed expectation with its owners.

Transmission failure was never connected by manufacturer as lack of maintenance and never had to ask for maintenance records. Usually, a transmission fails after warranty limits if the maintenance was not done and this shoud be fair.

Head gasket failure had never been an issue connected to oil change or mechanical failure-period. If it fails it should be replaced under the warranty policy and not to be linked with any maintenance. The only time you will be asked for records is if you have a scenario where there is an oil starvation caused by lack of maintenance. This could be seen on the rocer arms that forms a gunky oil on top of engine and any mechanic would recognize this.

Hope this answers your question.|||I will 100% agree with "Hyundai Guru" but to add one thing, I don't know of any brand of car that if you don't change oil or prove it has been done will necessarily honor the warranty. This is not just Hyundai's thing.... it is all cars.|||agreed all around. you must have proof. otherwise how does the manufacturer know what caused your engine to break. its not they have to know for certain when they fix an engine which has had regular service records regarding oil changes, but if someone comes in with 70,000m on their car with NO records or records suggesting neglect, they can deny the claim. changing the oil is the #1 way to avoid engine damage and premature wear. and the cheapest way to do it. so its ok for the manufacturer to expect records of it to honor the warranty. if not its also fair of them to assume the engine is having problems due to lack of oil changes. unless it can be proven mechanically otherwise

How much does it cost to replace the timing belt on a Hyundai Elantra (GT)?

I am looking at used cars and found one with about 55k miles on it. The timing belt (and water pump) is typically changed at 60k mi. Just curious how expensive this is on a Hyundai from anyone who has paid for it.|||o own a repair shop,,and usually this job runs around 200 bucks,,parts and labor included,,there are probably some shop,s that charge more,,and maybe some less,,but this is a good price for that job,,it doesn't take all that long to do,,i hope this help,s.|||it costa about 85$ depending on the year of the car mine was a 96 and it was almost 90

Is it feasible to fit a turbo charger and a supercharger on hyundai getz?

I got a 2008 hyundai getz and was thinking of fitting a turbocharger adn a supercharger.....I live in Australia and would probably get it done by a professional garage or something but i wanna know is it really suitable to put these on the getz 1.6 engine and how much will it approximately cost and will it effect the warranty|||Why don't you just supercharge it and be happy. It will cost you more to supercharge it and turbocharge it than you paid for the car.|||1st question Why a getz? Yes it is possible to do, yes it is going to cost you an arm, a leg and probable a testicle to do. Theres more to it than just boltin on a manifold and turbo and slappin the supercharger ontop of the intake..Ya gunna need to virtually rebuild that little 1.6 from scratch. Fuel pump, injectors, clutch to put up with extra horses an torque, pistons, rods, lower compresion, custome manifold for intake and exhaust, extra pulley and tensioner for that charger, a whole heap of new hoses n lines, get a custom computer and get it mapped out, the list is endless....Oh and yes it will def void warranty ey.|||Adding a turbo would be the best thing compared to a supercharger if money is no object. However be prepared to drop a 2x or more comapred to a supercharger because theres alot of work involved and alot of parts. Your engine may not have enough power to effectively use a supercharger efficiantly as it's powered from the crank. On the flipside, a supercharger is a safer bet for engines not designed to have forced induction as they don't surge and are more tuneable. As far as money goes...i'm not aware of kits for that kind of car but in my case (subaru impreza 2.5i) i know that a turbo kit will run me $4500USD and a supercharger kit will run me $2500USD without an intercooler and $3500USD with an intercooler. Either way you're almost garanteed to void your warentee.|||If you're a wanker.. If you want to modify a car, why the hell did you get a getz????|||Don't forget the 100 shot of nitros...............

How bad is it to change the timing belt on a 1999 hyundai accent?

1999 hyundai accent. 1.5 L. I realize its a big job no matter what. Im wondering how bad? Like do you deep to pull the motor? Or perhaps the front clip? Or maybe the passenger side fender. Im sure i can do the belt job. Just dont want to do more work than needed, like I dont want to fight with it all day just to find out I needed to pull the motor in the beginning. Thanks in advance|||You don't really have to pull the engine out. It is a SOHC engine and it doesn't look that bad. It is a perfect engine to start with as a beginner. I started like everybody from scratch and now I know more than back then. I would advise you to either buy a technical manual for this car or get someone to supervise you (just in case) otherwise, should something come up you might be in for the whole day if not longer. The timing belt is located on the pass side towards the right front wheel. You have a lot of component to remove before you get to it including the engine mount. To remove the mount you have to somehow suspend the engine or support it on a jack (do not put the jack on the oil pan, find a solid point to support the power train). Also, it is important to mark the belt and line - up the top with the bottom of the engine. You have to find the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys. Lining-up the engine has to start from TDC point.

Overhaul, not an easy job but at the same token its something that could be accomplished (with a little supervision).

Good luck and have fun.|||Replacing the belt is no more difficult then on most cars. Now, getting at the thing, that's the fun part. All the belts and brackets have to come off the front of the engine and the balancer has to be removed. Then you have to support the front of the engine (passenger side) and remove the motor mount. Get a Haynes manual. It will give you some idea of what your up against. I would also recommend you replace the water pump and the idler pulleys while your in there. Once you start to dig in you will understand why I say that. You don't want to have to do that job in between belt replacements.

Good Luck|||timing belt is no easy matter, its a 3 hour job atleast for a well tuned mechanic. get a mechanic to do it for you. one **** up and your done. i know i did this to my eclipse.

How would I go about getting a manual transmission installed into my Hyundai Accent?

I have a '03 Hyundai Accent with an automatic transmission, and I was hoping to know what steps would be required to make the switch.|||Jack up the radiator cap and put a car with manual transmission already in it.|||it would cost you more than the car is worth. All kinds of very expensive work to the engine support, new flywheel, major work under the dash to install a clutch pedal, clutch linkage and a shifter. new axles and ECM.

it would be cheaper to sell or trade your car for a stick shift model.

1998 hyundai excel what would i need to cover to degrease the motor also what kind of oil does the motor take|||What works best for me is Carburator Cleaner. It comes in a spraypaint-like can and is very cheap. Usually, it doesn't affect the motor too and degreases very well since it's high pressured. How much is it to get air conditioning for my 2008 Hyundai Elantra?

My parents decided to buy my 2008 Hyundai Elantra basic, which is cool, becuase they got me a car. But it is getting really hot outside, and my car is black- but i have no AC! Does anyone kno where I can kind an air conditioner kit for my car, and how much it would cost?

I would greatly appreciate your help|||only kit for a car that new would be dealer installed a/c kit and they are not cheap.

only other option would be to find a wrecked one in the same year range and rip everything out of it.

you'd need all kinds, condensor, evaporator w/underdash boxes, all a/c lines, misc. bolts, brackets, possibly wiring harnesses if the car isnt pre-wired either, a/c compressor w/engine bracket, belt, possibly crank pulley, compressor oil, and freon. I think I may have left something out but you get the idea.

its a huge pain in the butt and even if you got all the parts together on the cheap...and I mean EVERYTHING...it sounds like you have no clue how to install it yourself and a shop would charge you an arm and a leg to do it since they'd have to pull out the entire dash to hang the underdash components.|||Where about you live?|||That would require installing all the A/C lines and ductwork not installed at the factory plus the dashboard controls. I would check with the dealership and see if it could be done. I know a company called Vintage Air makes systems to put in older cars that were before a/c.

Is the 2011 Hyundai Elantra just a pretty wrapper around a cheap car?

I have been looking at this car lately and I like the look and feel of it. I am just wondering if Hyundai is cutting their costs under the hood and with the rest of the mechanical parts that you don't see. Is this engine going to fall apart in 5 years? I know they have a great warranty, but that usually means arguing with the dealer to get them to take care of the problems. What are your thoughts?|||We actually own a Hyundai and have owned some in the past, and personally I believe that Hyundai has significantly been doing better at producing cars. Not only are they great looking, but comfortable and smooth riding. We have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata right now, and we love it. I dont know if this is a problem where you live, but it handled the snow very well. The biggest plus that we have had is the wonderful gas mileage. I'm not for sure how much ours gets, but I remember having to fill up every week with out Dodge and now with the Hyundai its maybe a couple times a month. (depending on how often you trouble...)

So hopefully this answers your question! I really suggest the Hyundai product in general.

Good luck :]

How many miles can I expect from a hyundai engine?

I'm thinking of buying a 2002 Hyundai Sonata, except the engine already has 102,000 miles on it. I'm tied up for money and the vehicle itself looks nice. I'm just curious to know how many miles these (not sure if it's 4 or 6 cyl on this model) engines usually live up to? Thanks!|||Unfortunately today's engines are not built to last as long as the old ones did ( just like everything else these days). If the previous owner or owners kept up with oil changes and general maintenance of the engine, and didn't drive the heck out of it. You could be lucky enough to have it last you another 100,000 miles. Check out this site I found for you it's a place you ask the question of certified Hyundai mechanics and their answered ASAP...

Good Luck!|||I'm on my third Hyundai with 68,000 on this one. The first, an '88 Excel the engine went at @ 130,000 miles. The second, a ;94 Excel I traded in at 140,000 miles . the seals were starting to go otherwise the car was in good shape. Draw your own conclusions|||an engine over 100K miles could go another 100K without any problems or could need some work soon, if you are concerned you could have a shop do a compression test, though that will just tell you that the engine is in good condition today not in 50K miles. Your bigger concern is the transmission as engine's usually outlive a car's transmission. Please have a certified mechanic test drive and thoroughly inspect any used car prior to purchase, well worth $200 or whatever to know what he see's wrong needing repair. Most engine's may require new seals at some point, but really if well maintained the engine should go to 200K miles with only maybe $1000 in work if any. A transmission replacement will cost about $2200, so check for slippage and have the fluid drained to see if there are any metal particles in the fluid.|||it the owner took care of it and had regular oil changes, then it should go alot more miles. we owned a 1988 excel gls that had over 200,000 miles on it (it was totaled by a red-light runner. we owned a 03 elantra gt that had almost 50,000 miles on it when we gave it to one of our daughters-it now has 120,000 miles. we currently own a 05 elantra gt with over 60,000 miles|||You can expect quite alot from Hyundai engines.

How well does the Hyundai Elantra's ipod connectivity work with older model ipods?

I recently purchased a 2009 Hyundai Elantra and i would like to use it with my ipod. I know that you can go out and buy the cord from Hyundai to connect the ipod to the audio system directly but i have questions about the compatibility of that cable with an old dock connecter ipod (2003).

Does anyone have any experience using an older ipod with the Hyundai connecter?|||It shouldn't matter. I have an aftermarket plug for my iPod in my car, and it has two ends, you can plug it into the headphone jack or the slot you use to hook it up to the computer. As long as your plug ins aren't loose and they wiggle around, you should be fine.

How do you program a keyless remote on a Hyundai sonata 2008?

I have a Kia remote that was given to me at time of purchase at a Bruce Titus Hyundai dealership, and I was told it could be programmed for my Sonata. I have looked online for instructions and I have only seen domestic vehicles listed. With Hyundai鈥檚 are there ignition and door lock procedures combined with remote procedures to program, or is it some kind of operation that can only be done at the dealer with high tech tools?|||I work for a dealer and it has to be done using hyundai equipment|||You guessed correctly the Dealer will have to program it for you. How do i power up my hyundai avante and still make it fuel effiecient?

i'm driving a hyundai avante with beautiful 17'inch rim and low profile tyres. Its a killer. But I notice that it reduce my power and increase my fuel consumption. I need advise on what i should do to power it up and at the same time still able to make it fuel efficient? Pls help I don't want to loose my rims..|||When standing side by side, do your new tire/rims measure the same height as the stock set did? You probably are getting inaccurate numbers since you changed the diameter of the tire. I'd have the speedo checked by a tire shop to see if it is measuring accurately. Bigger and probably lighter rims/tires should not reduce your fuel economy unless you really got much wider tires.|||Nothing is free. Generally more power = less mileage. Your best shot might be nitrous which gives you more power and leaves your mileage the same when you aren't using it.

How do I clear a check engine light on 2000 Hyundai elantra?

My girlfriend has a 2000 hyundai elantra with a check engine light on and whats me to check under the hood. I told her on the phone, she might have to take the car to the dealer and have them see whats wrong. She had a oil change not to long ago at a Merchants tire shop.|||You should change the oxygen sensor, that is most likely your problem. The guy above is stupid it takes $15 per sensor, with comections. One wrench and 10 minutes and it will be fixed. Don't waist your money at a shop for this one.|||Very unlikely this will help, but if you unplug the battery and plug it back in, it may reset the computer and turn the light off, but if the car is still having a problem the light will come back on. Sometimes the light will come on even if the car just had a glitch, but normally will not shut off on its own|||IF it is infact an oxygen sensor, depending on the vehicle it could be expensive. Fifteen dollars is a little cheap if you ask me. We changed the O2 sensor in my old cavalier and it cost upwards of 100 dollars just for the sensor. If the car is still under warranty, take it to the dealership. They will know what's going on. When the check engine light comes on, the car's computer sets codes that they can read. Each code means a different thing. it is very unlikely that the dealership will NOT know what the code is for. If you are not under warranty, go to Auto Zone or wherever and have them plug their computer into your car and tell you the code. be careful with them though because they can be very vague about telling you what's going on. If all else fails and your state doesn't require that the c/e light be off to be inspected and the car seems to be running fine, honestly, i wouldn't worry about it. My old car had over 45+ thousand miles put on it with the check engine light on when i sold it and it is still on to this day with 200K+ on it with the new owner. Good luck!|||Just a month ago my engine light was on.So I took it to the dealership.they told me it could be anything. everything it the elantra has a sensor on it. I have a 2005 elantra and they just said it could be the weight in the car etc. for example , I'm always at my dealership. people buy new cars and the next day they're car won't start. don't worry your problem is minor.|||The check engine light is directly related to the emissions. Therefore if it is on, its because one of the sensors suggests theres something wrong. A common (and easy to fix) problem is if the gas cap is not fully closed. The car can tell if gas vapor is leaking out there. However the more common problem with that is typically with the oxygen sensor. But I'll get to that in a second.

To answer your question: Autozone offers the service to plug your car into their computer for free to diagnose what the problem is. Its a great way for them to sell you the parts to maintain your car. They can also clear the computer. (Or you can disconnect your battery overnight).

After the computer has been reset - you'll need to drive for a full typical day - which is about 15 minutes at 30 mph, 15 minutes at 50 mph or higher, and some stop and go in there as well. This will allow the computer to run through all its tests. If it comes back on then there is a problem.

The most common problem when the light comes on is the oxygen sensor. Its embedded in the exhaust system - as such subject to very high heat. Most newer cars are equipped with at least two. One before the catalytic convertor and one after. They send messages to the computer which compares them to see if the catalyic convertor is working properly. It almost always is. The oxygen sensor is probably whats broken. They're an easy fix if you've got the tools, however to know which one to replace is a challange. Something like that can be repaired at any shop or the dealer. Shouldn't cost too much.|||i have the same problem with my 2001 hyundia elantra, auto zone tests says its a vaccum leak but i don't know where to look maybe the pcv valve located by valve cover or the o2 sensors located by the cat. converter. ps i hope this helps|||I have a Hyundai Tiburon, and was just told at Auto Zone that the check engine light was on because of a small leak from the gas cap. If you've just gotten gas, and not turned the cap on tightly enough sometimes it will come on. I replaced the cap, and have reset computer by unhitching the battery, but light still comes on, so hope yours is an easy answer. Good Luck!|||you might want to ask your gf to have the car diagnosed. it might be a oxygen sensor, it could be an emission problem, it could be a lot of different things. just have a mechanic diagnose it with a diagnostic tool so that you can determine what the problem is.|||Take out battery at night.

At morning put it in again and the light will be gone, but if it will turn on again it means that you need to fix car.

P.S.

Check your engine, after battery staff.|||If there are no instructions in your Sweetie's owners manual or if she does not have an owners manual, Have her ask at the service department of a dealer. They have a tool to diagnose the problem. They also can tell you how the warning light can be cleared/reset (most likely with out disconnecting the battery).

The answers you have received already tell you the most likely causes of the light aluminating but they do not address your question directly. Let me add: It is not a good idea to clear the indicator without finding the cause of its activation. Also, I am not a fan of just changing parts until the problem is solved. That can be a very time consuming and expensive process.|||Well I had a Hyundi once and it was fine the CHECK ENGINE light always stayed on though! So Hard telling.|||wow|||Take the bulb out

The only other thing it could be is the ignition switch.|||alternator or starter|||ignition. on some fords (not your car) it is the Positive cable on the starter that shorts out for some reason. Might be something to look into as well. Not a Hyundai fan. thinking it could just be the ignition though but also the thinking the key. New keys are cheaper but go to the dealership to get the new key. if you get a new ignition it comes with the key.|||Sounds like its your starter.|||The starter of any vehicle requres lots of power to turn over a cold engine, therefore, the positive side of the battery is connected almost directly to it. I say almost because if the starter was connected directly to the battery it would be continuously engaged to the engine... so, they install a starter relay.

The starter relay is an electronic part that is controlled by the ignition switch, i.e. your key. When you turn the key to the start position, a low power, electrical circuit is energized and the starter relay switches the positive battery voltage directly to the starter.

Chances are, your starter relay is faulty. Of course, your ignition switch controls the starter relay so it could be the source of your trouble too. While costs to repair a faulty starter relay are cheap, repairing an ignition switch would be higher.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

I can tell i need to set the motor first before i install it, but i have no idea what the position should be of the switches. Anyone know?|||close the sunroof completely. turn key to OFF position. with key on OFF position hold simultaneously the OPEN and TILT UP buttons. At the same time, with your other hands turn the key to ON position. Hold the two buttons for 3 seconds and then release them. The sunroof should tilt on its own. Once that happens, your sunroof its reprogrammed.

How much is reasonable to pay for a 2007 Hyundai Elantra SE?

I hate going to a dealer to buy a car!! I have done my homework and want to buy a Hyundai SE, but the dealers add on a bunch of garbage and jack up the price. How much is it realistic to pay for the car.|||go to the hyundai website. Hyundais are great cars. We own both the elantra and honda civic. the hyundai is a better made car with alot less problems than the civic IMO|||Don't buy a Hyundai...Honda Wanna Be....get yourself a Civic and save a ton of money in the long run!|||If you want it new, go to Consumers Union and get their information on dealer costs, options, and the like. (There is a fee.) For used cars, go to Kelly Blue Book at kbb.com; it's free.|||maybe this will help

http://www.hyundaiusa.com/shoppingtools/鈥?/a>

key important one here http://www.edmunds.com/new/2007/hyundai/鈥?/a>

SE version comes in at 15695-16695 with automatic...invoice is 15500 for automatic so i wouldnt pay more than 16000 for an automatic SE, and dont agree to any admin fees they want to charge outside of regular licence plate and air conditioning tax (if any), also check on fuel savings benefits etc. Hyundai and mazda love to charge admin fees of 100-300 dollars which is pure profit and a scam, also do not buy any rust proofing/undercoating or paint extra finishing, what a scam|||I agree with others...go to the website..

Also, go to Consumer Reports and get their annual auto issue. It'll give you a good estimate of the actual wholesale price of the car (what the dealer paid). Keep in mind however, that this price does NOT include incentives given by the manufacturer...for example...Hyundai Motor America might sell the Elantra GTs to the US dealers for 3500 below sticker because they want them to sell...

Look at the list price (the price they have on the sticker) and compare it to the price of the car in Consumer Reports. Pick a price between the two if you're happy paying it.

For example:

Hyundai Elantra GLS with AT, AC, all that stuff

Sticker Price : 14899

Consumer Reports price with same options: 11299

Tell them you'll offer them 13000 for the car.

Good luck. We're off to buy a new Elantra soon too..our '02 GLS is gettin' to be a hi mileage vehicle.

How do you chance the inside LED temperature gauge from Celsius to Fahrenheit on a Hyundai?

I have a 2005 Hyundai Sonata. My LED went to celsius when I changed bateries. Is there a 2 button combination or something special I need to do to get it back to fahrenheit?|||When you got a new battery it must have reset the factory settings. To change it back you need to get into you setting at you dash, using through the same buttons as it is to look at millage and trip info you can access you car settings. In that set of buttons is there more then two or three one saying reset. Also look for you milage setting, cause there you canchange from MPH to KLM. so figuring out to do that should give you an idea on how to change from celcius to ferienhiet. If you cant figure it out, go to a dealer or any repair shop, and they can show you how to do it usely free or charger, take them about 1 min to do it. Hope this helps.

How much money should I expect to pay for new brake pads for a Hyundai Accent 2002 model?

How much money should I expect to pay for new brake pads for a Hyundai Accent 2002 model? I'm trying to figure out a good price and avoid being over-billed for a standard procedure.|||If you buy them yourself, you can probably get reasonably good ones for under $30. A set for my wife's Mercury Tracer, about the same size car, were $25.

They are not difficult to change, except the first time when you will learn a lot.

How long do i have to keep my hyundai accent before trading it in for a new car?

ok i have a 2002 hyundai accent but i hate it and want another car. I owe 3,100 dollars on it but i want to trade it in for an better car, How can i do this or do i need to pay off some more of the car?|||Depending how much $$$ you have, you can do it anytime. The 'new' car dealer will payoff the h %26amp; add that to your 'new' car loan. But, you'll need a good credit number for that kind of a loan. Other way is to put the h up for private sale %26amp; start looking, just looking, for the new car. IF the h sells, than take that $$$ to the new car place for a down payment.

Is a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited a good first car for a teenage boy?

My lease is up on my car soon and I have been looking for cars for the past week. I have looked at the Mercury Mariner, Nissan Rogue, Mazda CX-7, and the Hyundai Santa Fe. My son will be getting his license in a few months and I don't know what car would be best for him to drive.|||Some would say too good.

My first car at 16 was 10 years old and had 130K miles on it.|||If it's for everyone, get whatever you like best. But if this is just for your son, you should get something inexpensive, because statistically, teenage boys have the highest crash rates and are the most dangerous drivers, especially those who've just gotten their licenses.|||I myself am a teenager, and yes I would drive that. I would like to drive the Hyundai Santa Fe. The rest of those are ok, the other one I would also want to drive would be the Nissan Rogue. Good luck on making your decision.|||for a teenage boy? get him a nissan versa..

How do you connect an iPhone to a Hyundai SanteFe Bluetooth for hands free operation?

My iPhone recognizes the SanteFe system, but when the SanteFe attempts to pair the phone to the system, it cannot connect to the phone. Has anyone else had this problem and knows how to fix it or get it to work? Thanks.|||You have to pair both at the same time..make sure your iphones bluetooth is ON or on discovery mode

Good luck!|||im not sure if that possible|||I think Hyundai SanteFe Bluetooth can not connect your iPhone 3GS with iOS4.0

How much would it cost to replace my front left wheel bearing on my 2000 hyundai sonata. Im hoping it doesn't cost to much seeing im a student and don't have a lot of cash. Estimate or possible range would be nice.|||For labor, it takes from 1 to 2 hours a wheel. That can be $70-$150 an hour, depending on where you get them replaced.

If you want a deal on wheel bearings, go to http://mibearings.com and fill out the form on the right side. They will send you an email with a price and link to the bearing.

What glasspack muffler will best fit a 2003 Hyundai Sonata?

I have a 2003 Hyundai Sonata and I am looking to beef it up a bit with a turbo charger, some vinyls and a glasspack muffler. the muffler is my last step. What glasspack would fit my car best? And, is it easy to install? thanks in advance.|||If you are running a turbo setup you want your exhaust to be as free flowing as possible...a 2 1/2'' or 3'' exhaust piping would be best, a high flow cat and if you are running a turbo on a hyundai motor i wouldnt put anything bigger than a small t3 turbo on it.|||forget glasspack that would sound like your car is farting going down the road go with a magniflow or a flowmaster they would sound much better.

What are your thoughts?|||I have 2 Hyundai cars, a 2003 and a 2007, both bought new and while they were cheaper than other brands of cars like them, I have found nothing cheap about them. In fact some things are better than other brand of cars. People are putting 200,000 plus miles on them so something must be right. My 2003 is still going strong and I do not and will not baby it.|||Hyundai is making excellent cars.

If you have doubts about them, check with the owners you see in parking lots and gas stations. I did that for a few years before I bought my first one, a 2004 Santa Fe. Of all the people I have asked, I have never gotten a negative reply about a Hyundai.

I have a neighbor who has been doing the same thing since about a month after she bought her new ford 2 years ago and she tells me the same thing, not one negative reply.

The new Elantra is new from the ground up, and is certainly not just a dressed up 2010.|||We owned both a 05 honda civic ex-se and a 05 Hyundai Elantra GT, bought new. We had lots of problems with the civic (yes they do have problems). We traded it at 36,000 miles (end of warranty) for our 06 Acura tsx (I know it is a honda but it is an excellent car after 120K+miles) Traded the elantra in July 2010 for a '11 sonata. The elantra had 100K+ problem free miles. The dealer we go to is excellent-|||who cares it has a 7 year 100k mile warranty...

and i dont personally think so, i dont really see many coming back to the dealer for minor or major issues, its usually just something stupid like a squeak or rattle|||Consumer Reports recommends this car|||There's a reason why Hyundai group is the fourth largest car maker in the world.|||Not really, what makes you think Hyundai is a cheap car. Sure its pricy because its new but its not cheap.

As far as I see it, from its competitors its a very good value for your money.

Hyundai actually did its homework compare to what other automakers are doing.

Toyota Corolla has been using the same engine transmission ecu suspension etc since the 2000s Corollas (meaning they are just a waste of money) only changed from exterior

Honda Civic and Ford Focus have gone through a major change, Ford Focus did much better than Honda Civic. the 2012 is just a revised, light change 2006 honda civic. If I am to criticize on the civic is that its too pricy. All Honda's are overpriced, they don't need to be. Its not a BMW

Nissan Sentra went for a good change as well... lets see what the next B17 has in store.

The Chevy Cruze is a very promising car. Although some complain its not entertaining to drive but I would love to be in an interior like that.

The Elentra went through a SERIOUS CHANGE compare to last generation. A 6 speed automatic, which car company (besides Cruze) offers that.

The engine will not fall apart as long as you maintain properly.

In my opnion Hyundai is going through a serious change only because they're showing promise, unlike the Japanese automakers (who aren't). Buying one wouldn't hurt your wallet. In the end I am sure you'll be happy with your decision, I've hard many owners hesitate in buying A Hyundai because of its name, but when you drive one, they're something else.

Give on a try!

Where can i learn how to repair my Hyundai Accent 2000 Computer ?

I need also to know how i can fix my Hyundai Accent 2000 Computer ,myself.|||You can`t do it without a lot more equipment than it will cost to replace the car let alone the ecu. They are not like your home computer with replacable components. I suppose if you got a job with an electronics company and spent several years as a programmer or repair tech then maybe you MIGHT have a basic understanding of how they work|||These are sealed for death units. The battery has gone dead in my Hyundai Coupe and the bonnett opener is electronic. How can I open the bonnett

Is there any manual button to by pass the electronic button in cases like this? It is an 02 Hyundai Coupe SE and the battery is totally dead after the car wasnt started for 2 weeks. Thanks in advance.|||You can buy a battery powered power supply which plugs into the cigarette lighter, its used mainly so that you don't lose all your radio presets etc. when you are changing batteries, costs around $20.|||All cars have a small lever under the hood (bonnett) in the front to be able to open it manually. A mechanic knows where it is if you dont.|||the lever under the bonnet is a secondary release in case the primary (in your case electric) fails - this is to stop the bonnet flying open when you drive along

You cannot open this secondary release until you have opened the primary release.

there should be an emergency release for you bonnet - I will try and find out for you and edit my reply in a bit|||I am an Irishman, when things don't go right for me I just grab an axe, they pretty much fix everything.

I am hoping it will improve the sound quality, but I am having a problem determining the RMS of the speaker and what type of amp I should get so I do not damage my speakers. How to remove the driver's side door panel on a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon?

Hello,

My power window has slipped its track and my boyfriend is attempting to fix it, but we are unable to get the door panel to come off. We have gotten all of the screws off other than the grab handle. We know theres a screw behind it but we are unsure how to take it off without breaking it. My car is a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon. Please help!|||The power window motors are common failures on the Tiburons. Both sides went on my 2003 Tiburon. I got them both replaced under the warranty when I had the car, yours is out of warranty now of course. Hyundai will warranty the repairs and labor for one year after the date performed so be sure and always keep your vehicle records from the Dealer.|||1. The glass did not "slip off the track." The window regulator is broken and needs to be replaced.

2. If you your boyfriend cannot even get the door trim panel off, there is no way he is going to be able to replace the window regulator. He needs to admit that he has no idea what he is doing, that he is not a technician and that you need to take your car to a shop for repairs.

What would be the cost of replacing the hood and bumper in a Hyundai Elantra?

Got involved in a car accident. Basically, everything in front of the radiator (not including the radiator) as well as the hood should be replaced. That includes the bumper, bumper reinforcement, radiator support, etc. Surprisingly, the lights are not broken. I would like to know how much the whole replacement may cost me. The car is a Hyundai Elantra, 2002, GLS. Thanks.|||To replace the hood, front bumper assembly, grille, core support etc...is an easy $3000 if not more.

Is the Hyundai i20 a poorly built car because it is assembled in India?

I am thinking about buying an i20 but I am worried that it being manufactured in India will mean it will be a Lemon and fall apart after driving it away from the dealer. Why couldn't they build this care in South Korea?

Should I take a chance with Hyundai or will I regret it?|||No, the reason it is poorly built is because Hyundai is still a young company learning how to make cars.

.|||Shame. You just picked a sock puppet account as best answer. "the raven" isn't a real account. All they try to do is bad mouth non- American cars.

|||Is Indian labor inferior to Asian? The most important thing is the car was designed by engineers in South Korea and they set up the factory in India. You can check message boards/forums to see what owners are saying about the i20 in your area. Hyundai is a global company, not every vehicle will be built in South Korea. What are your other options in this price range that would be better then the Hyundai?|||k my old 2010 Nissan Maxima was assembled in the USA and the driver door wasnt straight with the rear left passenger door. so in india it will be worse than my case, and in the future if they make the plants in china, the door will just fall off!

How do you remote start a 2006 Hyundai Elantra?

My 2006 Hyundai Elantra comes with remote start, activated through some (evidently) secret combination of locking and unlocking with the key remote. I have looked in my owner's manual and Googled it, and I can't find the answer; I have only ever remote-started it accidentally, and now that winter is fast approaching and it's cold out, I want to know exactly how it works.|||Elantra came stock with a remote start, I find that hard to believe. If you think it has remote start then simply drive to the dealer and ask them how it works.

What are the sizes of engines that will fit in a 2000 hyundai accent gs?

I want to know what other size of engines that will fit into a 2000 hyundai accent gs other than the 1.5 liter.|||There are probably a lot of choices BUT if you live in a State that has Emissions Testing, then changing the engine for a different/larger engine will cause the vehicle to fail the Emission Test. Also, your vehicle was built as an economy vehicle, so wanting to "soup it up " may not be all that good of an idea.............I enjoy the 35 - 40 mpg I get with my 2002 Accent !!

Where is the engine block coolant drain plug located on the engine block of a 1997 Hyundai Accent?

The Hyundai factory manual says there's one, but the mechanics at Hyundai said there isn't. Who knows?|||The coolant is NOT drained from the engine block. It is drained from the bottom of the radiator (called Petcock).

Good Luck...

How hard is it to change the timing belt in a 2003 Hyundai Accent?

I am fairly good in the garage but have never worked on anything serious on my Hyundai- just regular maintenance. It has just rolled over to 60k on the mileage and that it when it is suggested to change the timing belt. The dealership wants $500 to do it. Is it worth it? The timing belt itself is only $35- so the labor has to be extensive. Is it worth it to take it in or is investing the time to do it myself the way to go?|||There are simple things that everyone can do however there are complicated repairs/maintenance that requires finesse and knowledge. Timing belt replacement is one of the tough ones. $ 500 to replace the belt its too much Labor should not exceed $ 300 with LTS (Labor Time Standard Guide - Mitchell Book) allowing 2.4 hr to replace the belt. Multiply that by shop hourly rate and that should be your labor dollars to pay. You can negotiate the price or choose a different shop. Its worth to let a qualified technician to replace the belt for you. Like the previous guy said, one wrong move and with first crank on the engine and you will be seeking for major repairs.|||You need to remember a few things when doing a cam belt. Mainly, if you cock it up you car is dead as there is no clearance between the valve and the pistons. In the first stroke you'll bemd the valves if you too far advanced. My company has just invested 拢3000 in a cam belt locking tool set. (massive thing it is lol) you might even find you need to buy a sprocket locking set which is very expensive. lay off the dealer, in my garage i'd charge 拢260 for that. just make sure where ever you go they will give you warranty. Plus that price is prob belt only, you'll be wanting to do the tensioner as well, get a price on that then the $500 will seem a bit more value for money.

How do I remove the rear and front speakers from a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon?

I've looked everywhere and can never find a straight answer. I find mentions of a site that has diagrams, but the only site i can find is the Hyundai Motors America site, and I cant find the diagrams anywhere. I need to know how to remove the rear and front speakers from an 03 Tiburon. Any help is appreciated.|||those cars are pretty straight forward there will be a couple screws most likely noticeable to find and then clips there on.. dont be scared of it just be cautious when removing. dont yank and pull too hard on anything and you will be just fine.

Does anyone know what the lifetime mileage for a 2008 Hyundai Elantra is?

I have heard mixed reviews about Hyundai cars. I have heard that Toyata, Honda and Nissan can go beyond 200,000 miles. What about Hyundai? If anyone knows how I can find out please answer. Thanks!|||They all can last has long has you take care of them and do regular scheduled maintance|||My mom used to have a Hyundai Accent. She put over 300,000 kms on it and when she sold it, it was still running like a baby. Just take care of it, you'll be fine.|||being towed or driven?|||Sorry to tell you this, but their is no such thing as an estimated lifetime mileage for any brand or make of automobile. Sure, they have life expectancy's for newborn babies in each country, but no such thing for newborn cars apparently. That's probably due to the lawsuits that would quickly be filed by most European brands whose sales would plummet when people realized the highest priced cars are also the lowest quality, of course if you read consumer reports you already know this.

Realistically any Hyundai will last just as long as any other brand if maintained in the same fashion and treated the same. However, usually cheaper cars aren't taken care of as well as more expensive cars. Very few people keep a car after 100,000 miles as they want something new at some point and don't mind starting a new car payment. I'm sure the new Elantra's can easily make it to 150,000-200,000, extremely rare to find any brand over 200,000 miles since they have low values and even a minor accident will make them worthless.|||I would guess it 200,00 - 250,000. Cars are made to last alot longer today than 30 yrs ago.|||depends on how well the car is maintained-Our first Hyundai was a 1988 excel gls-It had over 200,000 Miles when it was totaled by a red-light runner. It had the original engine, clutch, transmission and was running excellent until it's death. My mom owns a 1998 Honda accord, bought new with 80,000 miles. It is still running but with a new transmission, ac condenser, power window motor replaced, brakes replaced 4 times, (expensive maintenance)|||Extrapolating data from the consumer affairs database, most owners report their 2005-2007 Hyundai Elantras to run about 100k. After that they become troublesome. According to most owners, the smaller items begin to fail around 50k miles- power steering pumps, water pumps, brake cylinders, relay switches etc which interestingly, after 60k miles the warranty does not cover these items. The so called great warranty only covers the engine and transmission for 10 years or 100k miles. Don't be sucked in by this scam. There is a lot of fine print along with that warranty and many owners also report being jerked out of money by the shady dealers. Caution is needed.

If you were a friend of mine I would highly advise you to avoid this vehicle for many other reasons as well. The resale value of all Hyundais is among the worst. Do you know why? They do not last that long compared to a Honda Civic, Ford Focus, Chevy Cobalt, Toyota Yaris or Dodge Caliber. The resale tells the whole story. Just ask someone who tried to sell their used Hyundai and you'll see it was not only dificult to find a buyer but the price they got was horrific.

Also, I have had personal experience with Hyundais and I know that although at first they seem as if they represent a good value, they really do not make that much sense when you "Think about it." For example, when the car needs to be brought to the dealership often to be repaired, they don't give you a loaner car so you have to pay to rent one or lose a day of work. Small things like that can make a car a burden to own. In this case, avoid Hyundai.

Note: klj04128. I know that you and your padres work for a Hyundai dealership, vandandaly said so himself and your other friends have slipped by saying they are Hyundai service managers. Which dealership, I don't know. What I do know is that you are typical Hyundai people-- basically, snake oil salesmen.

Since you had the time to look up my other comments on the BMW page, (provided through your other padres or fake names) then you should know if you compare my Cadillac Escalade's gas mileage to a Mercedes SL600 or BMW M6, or Ferrari F430, which is what the others were doing there, then you can see the Escalade, which is a luxury vehicle returns far better gas mileage than any of those vehicles. Why don't the environmentalist get on their tail? Besides, I use my Escalade to tow a 10,000 lb trailer and boat, which no Hyundai can even come close to doing. Different vehicles for a different people. I was only pointing out to the uninformed that Hyundai is not such a good value when you really "think about it."

Note #2 klj04128- I believe your opinions are biased because you are a dealer or sales rep or service manager (I also know your job as a service manager is to troll Y! answers/autos for reviews that are not 100% positive and give a thumbs down or report as SPAM.

I know you have an agenda, a job to do. But the difference between you and me is, I have no connections with any dealer or manufacturer. I only post facts- the good the bad and the ugly. Yes, my Escalade drinks gas at 15 MPG and some interior plastics are not exactly the highest quality and the steering has no telescoping feature. But who cares about what I drive? I only want others to know the truth about Hyundai- they are not good values when you "think about it."

Note #3- The standard tow rating is 7900. When properly equipped with a class IV tow hitch, it can tow 10,000 lbs as I do. Car and Driver, in their long term test with the Escalade said, they pulled a 11,000 car trailer with no problem.|||Don't pay attention to Hyundai bashers. Chances are they never owned or drove a Hyundai.

The real truth is there is no way to tell if a car will last. Yes, I have seen a Toyota go up to 400,000 miles but I've seen a Ford do it too.......just add 50,000 to that! On the flip side my friend's new Camry didn't make to 100 miles because of a transmission problem.

My Hyundai has 130,000 miles and is still going strong so I have to believe it will make it to 200,000

Just to put everything into perspective, believe it or not, I've seen a guy still drive around in a Yugo! I don't know how many miles he has (or where he can find parts) but it still runs.

A car's brand isn't nearly as important as the person driving it. All cars will need repairs regardless of maintenance.|||I'am a hyundai sales rep. and i take trades all the time with 200,000- 300,000 miles on them ,so service your car on time and you will be alright.|||With proper maintenance, a new Elantra should take you beyond 200,000miles. If you ever travel to some Caribbean islands you will see numerous Hyundais, not only newer ones but older ones as well from the early 90s. People there buy these cars not only because they are more affordable but because they are also durable and easy to repair as well. Some of the worst roads here don't compare to some of the roads there. The fact the cars are still on the road just is a testament to their quality. Those that criticize Hyundai cars probably have never even driven one or owned one. I own a Toyota that has 189,000miles and have had to do a transmission rebuild and change the cylinder head gasket. I have changed calipers, rotors, wheel bearings and axle seals in the time that I have owned it. It is an old vehicle so the calipers, rotors, etc are things I would have expected to fail eventually as no vehicle is immune from wear and tear.

The biggest problem with a Hyundai is depreciation. Contrary to what Sunomo/Sun Yao Lin will tell you, the depreciation is in no way indicative of quality or reliability. BMW and MB have lower depreciation yet their cars can prove to be quite troublesome.

Also the Hyundai warranty is a 5yr/60000mi bumper to bumper warranty not 50000mi as Sunomo stated. Most other car manufacturers don't even offer such a warranty for such a time frame. Other cars are not immune from steering pump, water pump, brake cylinders, relay switch failures. Perhaps if he extrapolated data from the consumer affairs database about other car makers he would see that. Additionally, I find that owners of 2006-2007 Elantras claiming their cars go to 100000 miles then become troublesome very dubious. Those owners would have had to have driven their car 50000mi/year on average to make such claims.

Let's take a look at Sunomo's Cadillac Escalade ESV. The Escalade shares the same V8 found in the HUMMER H2, a vehicle that has become notorious for poor gas mileage and high CO2 emissions and is a target for much criticism from environmentalists everywhere. He tells people to buy American to support the economy, but people like him that drive around in gas guzzling SUVs tip the scale in favor of the foreign countries that supply us with oil. People that actually went and bought a "crappy" Hyundai get better gas mileage than that MegaBlock he calls a car. Additionally if people around the world adopted his attitude and decided to purchase vehicle makes native to their country GM and Ford would be in much more problems than they are in now.

Extrapolating data from the consumer affairs database typical problems experienced by Escalade owners include poor gas mileage, problems related to faulty electronics and problems relating to passenger restraint systems. It also does not feature one touch power windows, telescopic steering wheel, or entry assist handle for the driver. Consumer Reports also states that reliability has been below average for the Escalade. If he's an "automobile writer, expert" then automotive journalism is at new lows. Yaris, Caliber and Cobalt owners have had their share of problems and it is a bit premature to make long term reliability predictions for those cars as only two or three years of data are available, a good portion of which is not favorable. The Civic of course is a good bet.

With respect to Hyundai dealers trying to weasel their way out of performing warranty repairs, I have no doubt that some dealers are indeed unscrupulous, however, you can always go to another dealer. Some Hyundai dealers do provide loaners in the event the work to be done is extensive while others have courtesy shuttles that will take you where you need to go and pick you up afterwards. In the end Hyundai is a company out to make money and just like any other car maker out there will ensure that warranty claims are genuine and not due to driver negligence. So I say again maintain your car well and it will last you longer than 200000mi.

Note to Sunomo: If you think that every person that posts a positive review of Hyundai vehicles is a dealer then you are delusional. I don't spend all my time on Yahoo! answers because unlike you I have better things to do. Given the time that you spend here, I wonder where you find time to write for your day job. You are extremely biased in your opinions which is why I think that people should disregard what you say. You yourself have said that the experience of one Hyundai owner cannot represent as a whole other owners' experiences. If you were to troll all the automotive complaints about Hyundai I think you will see that it is a small number compared to the number of cars that they sell every year. They did not become the sixth largest car company with Kia by producing shoddy, low quality cars. Also when people take their money and buy a Hyundai vehicle it is not your place to tell them that their cars are terrible and worthless. That just offends people which is why you are constantly derided on the Hyundai board. I bet you didn't like it when I criticized your Escalade, which is why I did it. (Do you even own an Escalade because the max tow rating is 7800lbs. How can you tow a 10000lb boat?) Obviously you don't 'Think about it'.|||ive got a 1988 x1 excel with 238000 on the clock and its still going strong|||JP Senior, if Hyundai's are so vulgar and disgusting to you, then why...may I ask...are you hanging out on the HYUNDAI board??? People are asking these questions because they need genuine answers...not sarcastic, ignorant ones. Go hang out on the "Honda, Toyota or Nissan" boards.|||Low, I would imagine, Hyundais are Cheap, Ugly and very poor low build quality cars.

They do not in any way compare to a Honda, Toyota or Nissan. Dont be under the illusion that they will be half as good or last half as long.

What is the color of my Hyundai Tucson bumper?

My Hyundai Tucson is aqua silver in color. Could any one out there tell me as to the exact color of its bumper?|||It depends what model you have. I have a Tuscon Xenith in black and the bumpers are colour coded, also the Limited ones are also colour coded. The only ones I have seen in Aqua Silver have black matt bumpers. Best to contact your local dealer, they can advise you I'm sure.|||The bumpers on my Hyundai are the same color as the rest of the car. If yours is different, as the dealer or post a picture here so people can see it

How do you permanently disarm a Hyundai Car Alarm?

I do not want the alarm/theft protection system to go off anymore.

Is there a way to permanently shut it off? It's a 2004 Hyundai Sonata.|||Remove the fuse.

It can be located in either the engines fuse box or the fuse box normally by the pedals inside.

Inside the fuse box there should be a diagram telling you what the fuses are doing, i.e alarm, fog lights etc.

Then simply pull it out :)

How much does it cost to have the skirts and rear dam put on to a hyundai tiburon aroudn the year 2003? and where cna i get them put on after i buy the skirts and dams?|||Why bother! Youre driving a girls car!

Will a 1997 Hyundai hatchback front end fit a 2002 Hyundai 4 door?

I have a 2002 Hyundai Accent that is totaled on the front end. A local person is selling a 1997 Hatchback with a blown engine. Can I take the front end off of the hatchback and make it work for the 4 door?

Is it possible to install a cruise control on a 2000 Hyundai Accent? What about a Car starter as well?

I really love my car, but it doesnt have cruise control nor a car starter. Would it be possible to install these two things (especially the cruise control) on my 2000 Hyundai Accent? It doesnt have an option for cruise control from the factory, as far as I know.|||They can always be added if you so wish. I have added both as an after market without any problems.
