Why my Hyundai 1998 does not start when the battery and alternator are still good?

Why my Hyundai accent 1998 does not start? My battery is new and the alternator is in good condition. When I started the engine, I could hear the starting sound of the engine but the engine never started running at all.|||Bad starter perhaps. You can check this site out to get a better idea of what may be going on.

http://www.aa1car.com/library/1999/cm119鈥?/a>|||Its impossible for a bad alternator to cause a no-start. Take the belt off the car once you get it fixed, proof.

That guy that says hes a mechanic %26amp; electrician is lying about his credentials, unless he's the worst electrician in the world. I'm Ford-trained mechanic with 6 years experience at a dealer and currently local IBEW 663 electrician.

Fuel/ignition problem probably. Turn the key on, listen for the fuel pump to run. Does it sputter? could be flooded. Todays gas is crap...i've had cars that wouldnt start once the plugs got flooded even after they dried out. Put your foot all the way to the floor when you crank it (this shuts off the injectors in most cars).

Looks like a job for a dealership. They charge more for labor, but probably the same for parts %26amp; they wont rape you as much on number of labor hours.|||It might be a fuel problem or an ignition problem. Start by listening for the sound of the fuel pump running when you turn the key on. Get a spark plug tester and see if you have spark. Buy a repair manual for your car and follow the troubleshooting procedures.|||ecu transmitter has jumped causing the imobilizer to stay on hence the not starting you need to get the ecu reset at a garage you should have the plastic card with the four digit number in your owners manual hope this helps|||There can be more than one reason the engine failed to keep running, although it started

Faulty battery/alternator is/are among them (You may need a Vehicle Mechanic)|||Check Fuel pump relay, It's in the Fuse box under hood. Swap it with horn relay they're the same. they are marked on lid! Very common problem|||please , check ,the timing belt too as it may be the problem .|||http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGfsy1_H_g0
